About Dr. Subong

Dr. Subong is a board certified ophthalmologist with expertise in disorders of the retina, macula, and vitreous. Hailing from Baltimore, MD, he received both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Maryland.

After graduate school he did cancer research at the Johns Hopkins Medical Center for 3 years before moving to Washington, DC, where he earned a medical degree from the College of Medicine at Howard University. Dr. Subong completed his medicine internship at The Ochsner Clinic Foundation and his ophthalmology residency at Louisiana State University Health Science Center in Shreveport. He then moved to Memphis for a two-year fellowship in Vitreo-Retinal Diseases and Surgery with the Vitreo-Retinal Foundation before moving to the Pacific Northwest to practice.

Dr. Subong remains an active member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Retina Specialists. Outside of professional pursuits, he enjoys spending time with his wife Mounia and their two sons, Ryan and Jed, while still making time for golf, soccer and photography.
